Healthy Eating and being active
Children are offered a healthy, balanced and tasty diet, along with time to enjoy
fresh air and regular exercise in order to develop healthily. I am very keen for
children to learn about and enjoy eating and drinking healthily, as well as to
teach them how to keep their bodies fit and healthy.
I will provide all children in my care with healthy meals, snacks
and drinks, or to serve food provided by parents. I encourage children to choose
healthy options and to try new foods, including those from other cultures. I am
keen for children to be involved in the preparation of their meals, and cooking
in general. We make our own bread, pizza’s, soup, veggie pies, fruit crumbles and more.
I always have a large selection of fruit and veg on offer. We have an allotment close by for everyone to get involved in growing things too. This year the children have enjoyed growing and eating our own strawberries, rhubarb, potatoes, tomatoes, raspberries, peas and green bean! We're looking forward to growing more too!
Fresh drinking water is available for children at all times. I also provide other drinks including milk. Children will not be given fizzy drinks. Drinking water will be encouraged.
If you are weaning your baby, I am happy to support you; I have a blender and am willing to make pureed dishes, by giving your child food that has been prepared at home.
I am always happy to adapt our menu for vegetarian, vegan and other diets including allergies , and will discuss this with parents. It is always lovely to know children’s favourites (and dislikes!) too.
I record what your child has eaten and approximate amounts in their daily diary and have a menu (with listed allergens) in the hall. Also available is a list of allergens for all the food I provide by clicking on the link below. If you have any concerns regarding their diet/menu/quantity please do not hesitate to discuss it with me.
